Solis MMC has opened two new centres in Donegal.
Director Martin McCaul said the new developments in the Tusla Western Area are in line with Solis MMC’s national strategic plan to develop “a continuum of services in each Tusla region capable of meeting the needs of young people”.
He added: “We have the national emergency service in the Midlands area together with the recently opened planned respite centre in Donegal which is linked to our emerging community based support programme (IWS).”
Young persons in crisis
“In essence a young person in crisis can avail of emergency provision before returning to their home where they will receive planned residential breaks and intensive community support which is designed to prevent reception into residential care.
“Where the latter is inevitably required for a medium period of time, we have opened a residential centre with four bed capacity to meet those assessed needs.
“We do intend to open another four bed residential centre appropriately located to provide this responsive medium.”
